Russian ruble depreciates to 71 vs dollar, 78 vs euro on weak oil
MOSCOW, Dec 14 (PRIME) -- The Russian ruble depreciated to below 71 against the dollar, a new record low since August 24, and to below 78 against the euro, a record low since August 26, as seen by PRIME in data of the Moscow Exchange on Monday.
The ruble decreased 79 kopecks to 71.16 against the dollar and fell 69 kopecks to 78.09 against the euro at 3:54 Moscow time.
The Brent price stood at about U.S. $36.4 per barrel, a new record low since late 2008, when it amounted to $36.2 per barrel. Brent is falling ahead of a U.S Federal Reserve System’s (Fed’s) meeting, which will be held on Tuesday–Wednesday.
The MICEX decreased 1.05% to 1,702.35 at 4:03 p.m. Moscow time after falling below a support level of 1,700 for the first time since October 27, according to the data.
